Action for Carers gives advice and support to unpaid carers in Surrey.

An unpaid carer is someone who helps a family member or friend who needs support.

A Carer Support Adviser can:

• give you information and advice
• listen and support you
• help you speak up about your needs
• help you find local services
• tell you about benefits you may be able to get
• help you find support groups and workshops
• support you when the person you care for is in hospital
• help you plan for when they leave hospital

The team can explain which benefits may help you or the person you care for. They cannot give full benefits advice or fill in forms. They can help you find a service that does this.
