Surrey Appropriate Adult Volunteer Scheme (SAAVS)

SAAVS supports vulnerable adults and young people held in police custody. Volunteers act as Appropriate Adults. They do not give legal advice but offer calm, friendly support when no family member or carer is present.

This service runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Volunteers cover custody centres in Guildford, Salfords and Staines.

SAAVS is a partnership led by the Diocese of Guildford’s Department for Social Responsibility. It is funded by Surrey County Council Adult Services and the Surrey Youth Justice Service.
