Action for Carers Surrey
Surrey Young Carers gives free help to young carers aged 5 to 16.
A young carer is a child who helps to care for someone in the family. The person may be ill, disabled or need help with daily life.
A young carer may:
- help someone get out of bed
- help someone take medicine
- give care and support
- cook, clean or shop for the family
The service offers:
- free advice and support
- free events and activities
- groups where young carers can meet
- one-to-one help when more support is needed
- help with the move to secondary school
The groups give young carers time away from caring. They can have fun and meet other young carers.
A young carer aged 13 or over can sign up for support. A parent, carer or worker can also fill in the form.
