Independent Skills Course Caterham Valley Library

The Independent Skills Project runs at Caterham Valley Library. It includes 8 sessions delivered with local community organisations. The sessions help people who are struggling with everyday life, including money, emotional wellbeing and social isolation.

The sessions are:

  • Session 1: pre-course chat
  • Session 2: staying safe and managing money
  • Session 3: emotional wellbeing
  • Session 4: digital skills
  • Session 5: staying safe and healthy
  • Session 6: using your skills
  • Session 7: help to stay independent
  • Session 8: post-course chat

To make a referral, ask a member of library staff to do it for you. You can also call the Surrey County Council Community Helpline on 0300 200 1008.

Special Requirements

  • There is a lift to the library from the car park.
  • The library has automatic doors, and a hearing loop is installed.
  • The library is all on one level.
  • There is a study area upstairs, together with the Citizens Advice Tandridge District. There is a wheelchair accessible lift between floors.
  • Caterham Valley library has assistive technology for people with disabilities.
  • There are six parking spaces and two disabled parking spaces outside the library. There are also two supermarket car parks in town.
